FAISALABAD: Two applications were registered in Kotwali police station here on Thursday, asking for a petition to be filed against Move on Pakistan Chairperson Mohammad Kamran.

The applicants stated the banners, calling army chief to take over, were against the Constitution. They were of the view that this is a conspiracy to smear Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Pak Army.

On Monday, banners asking Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to enforce martial law were put up by the Faisalabad-based party all over the country.

Ali Hashmi, the central chief organiser of the party, told Dawn that the goal of their campaign was to suggest to COAS that after imposing martial law a government of technocrats should be made in Pakistan and Gen Raheel should himself supervise it.

On Tuesday, the party's Lahore office came under attack by unknown people.

Witnesses said a group of men visited the office of the party in a plaza on The Mall. They shouted slogans with some of them trying to enter the office which was locked at the time.

Move on Pakistan's Punjab Secretary General Mian Yasir condemned the attack alleging that the provincial government was behind the act.

He said the Punjab government had removed banners appealing for intervention by the army chief from the city and other parts of the province within hours after they were put up.
