KARACHI: The two corneas donated by philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi after his death on Friday were successfully transplanted into two blind persons, read a statement issued by Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant on Saturday.
The hospital said “Edhi sahab was amongst the first of the 2,000 donors registered at SIUT who have pledged their organs after death. The Edhi family donated both his eyes after he died at SIUT and fulfilled his will.”
“The surgery was performed in the late afternoon by a team of surgeons of the department of ophthalmology at SIUT,” the institute notified.
“The death of Edhi sahab has given vision to two most deserving persons and this is how he had wished his legacy to continue after death.”
The world renowned social worker and humanist died after 10 years of treatment at SIUT and since 2013 he was on thrice a week dialysis.
We all hope Edhi sahab’s donation will encourage others to save the lives of patients of end stage organ failure, read the SIUT statement.

How would we or Pakistan will ever forget or pay back for Mr. Edhi deeds? Impossible selfless services he rendered to humanity. I will call him above angels, if not then someone tell me his place in humanity. Never met or came close to him but tears are in my eyes while thinking and writing these lines. May the almighty Allaha bless his soul and make carry his work.

On the contrary, cccording to the Ulemah & those who have studied Islam thoroughly they say that Shariah allows it if certain conditions are fulfilled.

Be with me please. After reading so much which is really very much amazing (I doubt if anyone else got so much projection) on Br Edhi in different newspapers both international and domestic either under editorial, news, article, blogs, comments and letters etc, I suggest that all such very valuable material must be collected and two albums be prepared containing this all. One album is presented to Edhi family and the other album be kept in the office of Edhi Foundation. To me this project simply cannot and should not be ignored whatsoever despite the fact that it is not only time consuming activity but also needs money to materialize.

It is a ripe time for Edhi foundation to add the world class 'Blood Bank' service.
Edhi is the most respected name in Pakistan and has a much higher reach than any other organization in Pakistan.
We must know 'One Bottle of Blood' can save up to Four Lives.
