PESHAWAR, Nov 25: Information Minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai has said that the MMA-led government will support good non- governmental organizations to serve the people.

While addressing a food distribution ceremony at the Emergency Satellite Hospital (ESH), Nahaqi, here on Tuesday, he said the government was encouraging the public-private partnership in health sector to provide treatment to the people at their doorsteps.

The minister appreciated efforts of the Abaseen Foundation (AF) which, he said, had been running the ESH, Nahaqi, for the last two years under the public-private partnership scheme.

Unicef chief Dr Osama Makkawi on the occasion offered support and suggested to work to find out possibilities for mutual cooperation.

Unicef representative Dr Abdul Jamil said the model of ESH was exemplary and needed to be replicated in other parts of the province to improve health care facilities in rural areas. He assured the management of the hospital that his organization would provide support to cater to health care needs of the province.

On the occasion, honorary medical director of the AF Dr Mukhtiar Zaman Afridi briefed the participants about the ESH. AF chairman Brig Gulman Sher Afridi gave an overview of the ESH and the problems.

Members of the management board Abid Iqbal, Rasheed Khan and Nazim union council, Nahaqi, Colonel Ghulam Rabbani (retired), were also present.

Later, chief guest information minister distributed Eid food gifts among the patients.
