HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The deputy district officer, revenue, Latifabad, Dr Mohammad Farooq Leghari, has been nominated as the coordinating officer for shifting the affected families of Pucca Qila to government quarters in Junejo Colony, Gunju Takkar, SITE area, here.

Mr Leghari, during the physical survey of the colony, found out that several houses had already been illegally occupied by unauthorized persons who did not have genuine and valid documents.

He notified that the illegal allotments, would be cancelled and advised the occupants to prove their claims in his office by Jan 8.

It may be pointed out here that many lives have been lost due to the collapse of Pucca Qila walls at many places over the years.

The authorities have been considering to provide alternate accommodation to the affected families and others whose houses are dangerously perched on the walls of the historic fort.

Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman recently visited the Pucca Qila and expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of the fort walls. He directed to shift the families who had built living quarters on or below the boundary wall to some other place to avoid any future mishap.
