Published November 24, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: The central leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the acting parliamentary leader of the ARD, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, condemned the raids conducted by the law-enforcement agencies for the arrest of PML-N legislators and leaders.

He said it was a despicable act on the part of the government to arrest and carry out raids at the residences of PML-N leaders and workers for their arrests under section 16 of MPO (Maintenance of Public Order).

Chaudhry Nisar said the government arrested Javed Lateef, the vice- president of Punjab PML-N and Arif Sundheela while raids were carried out for the arrest of the member of National Assembly Abid Sher Ali, and the former member of the provincial assembly and the central president of PML-N (labour wing) Barjees Tahir besides other workers.—A Reporter
