FAISALABAD, Nov 23: PML-N MNA Abid Sher Ali and his brother former Faisalabad Municipal Corporation mayor Amir Sher Ali have been booked on charges of making provocative speeches against the government at their house in Nazimabad on Nov 20.
The police raided the house in the early hours of Sunday but failed to round up the accused.
On the report of Constable Muzammal Hussain, the Factory Area police registered a case under MPO-16 against the sons of former MNA Chaudhry Sher Ali, who was already in jail in connection with a separate MPO case.
Meanwhile, two MPAs have succeeded in getting bail before arrest in an MPO-16 case against them and 17 other politicians.
PPP divisional coordinator MPA Raja Riaz Ahmed has been granted interim bail by the Lahore High Court and PML-N MPA Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed Advocate by local Additional District and Session Judge Muhammad Rafique.
MPAs Riaz and Ijaz were booked under MPO-16 along with Leader of the Opposition Qasim Zia, Deputy Opposition Leader Rana Sanaullah Khan, provincial PML-N president Zulfiqar Khosa, provincial secretary Saad Rafique, MNAs Raja Nadir Pervez and Fazal Karim, MPA Malik Nawaz, former parliamentarians Mian Abdul Mannan and Sher Ali and Safdar Rehman, Akram Ansari, Zeeshan Elahi Shah, Rana Afzal, Khwaja Islam, Ijaz Ahmed Munna, Mian Irfan and Khalid Saeed on charges of making provocative speeches against the government and levelling allegations against the generals.
The case was registered by the Kotwali police after a rally organized by the PML-N against the arrest of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
Former MNAs Sher Ali and Abdul Mannan and Mian Irfan, Ijaz Munna and Khalid Saeed have been sent to jail on judicial remand. The area magistrate has issued notices for Nov 24 on the bail applications of these five politicians.
