KABUL: Former Afghan president Hamid Karzai said Pakistan does not want good relations between India and Afghanistan and wants "no bilateral trade and no access to Central Asia for India" which is unacceptable for Afghanistan.
In an interview with BBC Urdu on Thursday, Karzai claimed that India is helping Afghanistan build its infrastructure and health facilities and has "filled Afghanistan with money despite being a poor country".
"India wants to truly befriend Afghanistan and we want Pakistan to do the same," said the former Afghan president.

He said Pakistan should also become a part of the regional coalition between Afghanistan, India and Iran, but "Pakistan's condition is that Afghanistan should not have contacts with India."
"If this issue is resolved, our relations with Pakistan will improve rapidly," Karzai told BBC.

'Result of British imperialism'
Terming the formation of Durand Line a 'result of British imperialism' in the region, Karzai said that Afghanistan has never accepted this border since 1893, nor will they ever accept it in future.
"When Pakistan came into being in 1947, they received it this way, so we are not blaming them but Durand Line is a blow which no Afghan can ever forget. We do not accept this border but will not fight over this issue," said Karzai.
He stressed that Afghanistan is a sovereign country and is not taking dictation from any other country but "Pakistan government has taken some steps on Durand Line which are angering Afghans".
When asked as to why Afghanistan does not approach UN or International Court of Justice over the Durand Line issue, Karzai said it is not an international issue but 'inheritance of imperialsm' and only the respective governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan can resolve this matter.

Menace of terrorism
He maintained that terrorism and extremism is a menace which has not only affected people of both Pakistan and Afghanistan but added that "we (Afghans) think they have found safe havens and are getting aid from Pakistan."
"When this will stop, Pakistan too will see peace," said Karzai, who ruled Afghanistan from 2004 to 2014.

Two-point solution
He provided a two point solution to end hostility between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
- Both the countries jointly fight terrorism and make serious efforts for its elimination, this will bring peace to both of the countries.
- Pakistan should accept that Afghanistan is a sovereign country and should respect it and stop dictating us about friendship with India. We will not back down on that.

Karzai is finished. His career is over. Even his NATO allies questioned his mental illnesses. He has issues and is irrelevant. If India cares for Afghanistan then why don't they take some refugees? If you really analyze the present world Afghanistan with honesty, you will realize that modern day Afghanistan has been under different occupations from time to time, for basic amenities like health care Afghans have to rely on Pakistan and Pakistan is hosting Afghan refugees for a long time now, so whatever has been happening in Afghanistan should not be taken as a "true brother getting agitated with a hostile neighbor". Afghanistan has acted like termites in eroding our economy and order. Every fugitive of law takes refuge in Afghanistan. People are kidnapped and taken to Afghanistan. Yellow cabs in Kabul are stolen goods from Pakistan. All narcotics come from their country. Three million refugees and daily crossing of undocumented Afghans into Pakistan for services is taking toll on our infrastructure. The list can go on and on.
Congrats and well wishes to all Afghans on their new friendship with India. May this bring prosperity to Afghanistan . I don't know about Pakistani government but as a Pakistani I am really fed up with Afghanistan and Afghans. Please leave us alone we are no longer interested in accessing the central Asian Republics or your friendship.

In the modern world, good international relations cannot be built on the basis of 'you can only be my friend if you are also the enemy of my enemy'. Realpolitiks does not work that way. Notice for instance how India manages to maintain friendly relations with the US, China, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Israel etc. all the same time, despite many of the countries being enemies of each other. China and India do more annual trade with each other than our entire CPEC project, despite having many border disputes. We much learn from that.

Where was India when Russia attacked Afghanistan, did India vehemently condemned Russia ? Pakistan sheltered 2-3 million Afghans, what was India's contribution ? I don't think Pakistan objects to India's help in building the infrastructure but does object when Afghanistan provides sanctuary to Indian intelligence agency RAW, to conduct subversive activities against Pakistan.

These are just pressure tactics. This guy has taken a lot of money from India, tis the reason for him to be singing India songs but the irony of the situation is that everyone knows that all roads to peace in Afghanistan goes through Islamabad. All one have to do is guarantee Pak security concerns and all will be well i.e. India to resolve Kashmir issue and Afghanistan to resolve the border issue.
You can't play this double game by shaking Pak hand from one hand and stabbing in the back with the other. If you are serious about peace then everything should be on the table and not just what suits you the best.

as a pakistani we have no issue with india they can go wherever they want to strength their relations, as long as they dont opt for any interference in pakistan, but my sincere advise to india is not to rip themselves and waste money in bringing Pakistan down, logically and realistically its not possible.and besides this action will create serious gap of resources home. india gov should concentrate on betterment for their own people rather than bringing chaos in other countries, there are places in india people still dont know what electricity is.why not help them and make their life better.

Close the border with Afghanistan all together, expel all the refugees back to their villages inside Afghanistan. Cut off supply line from Pakistan to Afghanistan. Ban all flights to and from Afghanistan and India over Pakistani airspace.
Let's see how India fills the Afghans with all the money - through Russia or Iran?

The issue is RAW & NDS are sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan. Most of these criminals come unchecked from AFG. So the gates, walls, fence have to be built regardless. AFG Govt does not have any control past Kabul, and either are incapable or are involved in sponsoring terrorism. So Pakistan has every right to seal its borders.

Mr. Karzai has a very short lived memory. Pakistan took the burden of 3 million official figures and unofficially 5 million Afghans on their soil, despite have scarce resources and being a poor country. We welcomed them with open arms and they showed their gratitude by bringing, drugs, guns and crime. Karzai, has a home in Quetta, why didn't he make one in his new found friend India, and took 5 million of his fellow country men with him. That would have been a true litmus test of friendship between the Afghans and Indians.

Pakistan wants to have installed a tutelage government in Afghanistan to keep their western border safe. But the things took a dramatic twist when Indian investment and conduct won the heart and mind of the Afghans. If Pakistan expects any preferential treatment from Afghanistan on the basis of common religion, then this will not work at all. India has more Muslim population than Pakistan. Pakistan should realize the ground realities and review its foreign policy viz-a-viz its immediate neighbors otherwise it is going to a complete isolation in the region. Mere reliance on China is not sufficient. Pakistan should think beyond that.

We recommend that peace should be given a chance with Afghanistan to accept its responsibility to either take its refugees back and/or redirect them to its newly found friends in the neighborhood namely, India and Iran. Once Afghanistan is able to take its people and we can cooperate on security issues facing both countries, there is a chance that all teh neighborhood can become peaceful and business opportunities can emerge. Yes, Afghanistan is a soverign country, she can have peace with India and business with India, once its obligation is complete towards its own people wether she recognizes the Durand line and/or rejects it.

Monitoring and control of people moving across the international border is in the interest of both Afganinstan and Pakistan. I'm sure, if I remember correctly both countries have asked each other to control the movements of undesirables across the boarder in the past.

As soon as India is allowed to use Afghan soil to destabilize Pakistan, as is the case, then it is a totally different scenario. When Hamid Karzai was president of Afghanistan, every day he was giving statements against Pakistan. USA has provided billions of dollars economic and military aid to Afghans but they never said one word of thanks. The military equipment given by the US is rotting in the warehouses while they like inferior quality weaponry from Russia. Pakistan gave refuge to millions of Afghans during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan and provided military assistance to fight the Russians while India aligned with Russia . More than a million refugees are still living in Pakistan. Did India take any refugees? Of course not. Did India provided any military assistance to Afghans, the answer is not even one bullet. Pakistan considers Afghans as their brothers and sisters and never asked for anything in return for the sacrifices they made.The questions is why India wants to create friction between the two Muslim countries. The answer is India never accepted Pakistan as an independent state.

To curb this movement, Pakistan govt has taken a bold step and determined to build border check points on Pak - Afghan border in order to have a record of every individual who crosses into and out of Pakistan. I'm really disappointed on Afghans agitation. KPK is part of Pakistan, not Afghanistan. We should have resolved this Durand line issue long before.
Hundred of thousands of people cross torkham border undocumented. So no one knows, who they are; Afghans, Indians, Pakistanis, Americans, suicide bombers, smugglers, spies or mercenaries. Whoever they are, definitely they are creating trouble for both of us.
So when Pakistan say, this infiltration should be checked, which is also logical. You raise a dead issue and give an impression you are not interested, which lead to a suggestion you do not want peace in the region.
Come on, assist us in fighting against this menace of terrorism and smuggling

1. India sending RAW agents like Kulboshan Yadev to undermine Pakistan
2. Pakistan gets no real evonomy out of it
3. Central Asia is still poor and the market is limited
4. It is very hard to do business when the same people are occupying the house of your own brother: Kashmir
5. It is one of the carrots for solving Kashmir

Pakistan has an identity struggle because their national identity is derived from their pride over the invaders that came from Afghanistan and subdued them centuries ago . That would have taught Afghans an excellent lesson. @shahid Brother, do not be too unkind, India would like a strong independent and friendly neighbor, Pakistan and does not want to waste resources on each other.We should spend our resources against poverty related enemies together. We are certainly not your enemy for sure.
