KARACHI, Oct 12: Public Works Department (PWD) stunned former champions National Bank by two wickets to notch up their second first-class victory this season on the last day of the Patron’s Trophy match at Sialkot’s Saga Ground Friday.

Chasing 250 for victory and starting the day well placed at 138 for two, collapsed to 215 for eight before Iqbal Imam stroked an invaluable unbeaten 42 to steer PWD to victory by two wicket.

Iqbal added 35 precious runs with Ali Raza who contributed an unbeaten 15.

From the top order, former Pakistan junior captain Bazid Khan struck a fine 61.

Paceman Shabbir Ahmad led the banker’s fight back with four for 65 and well assisted by Mohamamd Sami (two for 77). But their efforts were not enough to deny PWD a morale-boosting victory considering the fact that they had surrendered a 53-run first innings lead.
