RAWALPINDI, Nov 22: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) on Saturday constituted a committee to facilitate the players in picking and choosing tournaments and assisting them in obtaining visas.

The AGM, chaired by the PSF president, Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, appointed Mansur Khan, the federation’s vice president to head the committee.

With him as members will be the secretary of PSF, Wng Cdr. Sajid Waheed, the national coach and one person from each provincial association.

The committee has been formed with the specific aim of helping the professional players, who mostly send in their entries for tournaments without the consent of the PSF.

Because of this, the players at times are refused visas resulting in loss of vital ranking points.

In this regard, the house decided that the Mansur committee will meet in the last week of December each year to mark the tournaments for the players based on their international rankings.

The calendar of activities for the year 2004 was also approved with six international tournaments of $12,000 each and another three having prize purse of $25,000 to be organised. These also include the SAF Games and the World Junior Championship, both in Islamabad.

Three national tournaments for seniors, as many as six for juniors, another two for women and a team championship have also been planned for next year.

The meeting also renewed the contract of national coach Rehmat Khan till August 2004 for training of Pakistan junior team for the World Junior Championship with the condition that a gold be won.

In another decision, the house agreed to selection of female players from amongst those in the training camp at Lahore along with the top two players Bushra Haider and Sara Awan. The trials will take place in February.

The boys team on the other hand will be selected following a league featuring 12 players to be organised in February. The top four boys would earn selection for the SAF Games.

The budget for the year 2003-04 was also approved and preparations for next month’s World Open in Lahore were reviewed.
