LAHORE, Nov 22: Deadly bowling by paceman Naseer-ud-Din propelled Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to a 99-run win over Railways in the Patron’s Trophy Inter-departmental qualifying round at the on Saturday. Railways, set to score 311 for win were 212 for nine as their batsman Asif Butt did not onl bat. Railways resumed the second innings at 42-2.
Naseer scalped seven wickets for 74 to pave the way for PAF’s success. Naseer had also taken three wickets in the first innings to finish with the match-haul of 118.
Kashif Naveed (53) and Khurram Chohan (58) were the main scorers for Railways.
A defiant knock by tailender Ali Aslam (72) and half-centuries by Atif Ijaz and Usman Arshad helped Higher Education Commission (HEC) deny National Bank of Pakistan victory.
HEC, after being forced to follow-on, needed 233 to avoid an innings defeat.
But Ali, also supported well by Atif who scored 67 (eight fours) and Usman 53 (nine fours), took HEC’s total to 282 for seven after resuming at 47-1 when the regulation time ended.
Ali cracked 10 fours in his 109-ball knock.
For NBP, paceman Aleem Khan Musa (3-25) was the main wicket taker.
The match between Service Industries and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) ended in draw, according to a message received here.
KPT set to score 308 for the win were 168 for one when the schedule time ended. Opener Shadab Kabir remained unbeaten for 102 while Mohammad Farrukh for 50.
