NOWSHERA, Nov 22: Former interior minister Maj Gen (Retd) Naseerullah Khan Babar on Saturday lauded the submission of asset lists by the parliamentarians with the Election Commission of Pakistan, but he deplored some of them for falsifying their papers in this regard.
He said this while talking with a group of journalists here on Saturday.
He said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali, Pakistan Muslim League-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Millat Party chief Farooq Ahmed Leghari, Minister for Water and Power Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and PPP dissident Sher Afghan Niazi had submitted false lists of their assets. He said some of them had not submitted their assets lists and trying to hoodwink the masses. He said he was ready to initiate an investigation into the matter. Mr Babar said an income tax officer in Rawalpindi, Nasir Ali Qureshi, had all the record of their assets.
He said Jamaat Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed spent a huge amount of money on his domestic and foreign tours, which could not be borne out of the assets list furnished by the JI chief.
