Researchers from Plasticity Labs conducted a study recently on the benefits of authenticity and on how being allowed to show ‘the real you’ (by freely expressing your opinions, or being less constrained by a dress code, for instance) at the office can lead to better job satisfaction and engagement. Of the 213 people who completed the survey, 72pc said that they were their authentic selves at work. Of these respondents, 60pc said that they were able to be authentic after three months on the job, and 22pc said it took nine months. About 18pc said that it took 10 months or more.
