ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf wants the Parliamentary Committee on Panamagate to complete its task of preparing the terms of reference (ToR) for the judicial commission within the stipulated time.
Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, PTI’s spokesman Naeemul Haq said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had assured the opposition that he would come out with some new proposals at the next meeting of the committee on Monday.
“The committee should complete its task around June 10 so that the issue that has been lingering on for almost two months can be resolved,” Mr Haq said, asking the nation to pray for the success of the committee so that the ToR could be finalised amicably and with consensus.
He alleged that the deadlock had been caused because of the attitude of members of the committee representing the government.
The PTI leader said the opposition would have no objection if the government wanted to add some more questions in addition to the 15 already prepared by the opposition.
He said the opposition would strictly analyse and monitor the federal budget to be presented next week. The country, he said, had been passing through a severe economic crisis as the government had not been able to meet the budgetary targets.
Mr Haq said the opposition wanted the government to focus in the budget on 100 million people who had been living below the poverty line.
