KARACHI: MQM slams PPP

Published November 22, 2003

KARACHI, Nov 21: Amid continuing criticism of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement by the opposition for its support to Gen Pervez Musharraf, the MQM MNAs have targeted Pakistan People’s Party and said that PPP’s founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a minister in Ayub Khan’s cabinet.

In a statement, they said while the PPP was criticising remnants of General Ziaul Haq, they were now sitting with the same elements in the opposition.

They asked as to why the PPP had not moved a resolution against such remnants for abetting the “murder” of ZAB?

Meanwhile, responding to Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s allegations of extortion by the MQM activists, its senators appealed to prime minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali to restrain Jamat-i-Islami from extorting money from the people in the name of jehad.

They alleged that JI’s Nazims were themselves involved in extortion.
