ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Police have beefed up security in the Capital for Jumatul Wida and planned to deploy police commandos at mosques and imambargahs to avoid any untoward situation.

The source said a meeting of senior police officials was held here on Thursday to review the security measures to avoid any disturbance in the Capital.

Police commandos equipped with sophisticated weapons and wireless sets would be deployed at all sensitive places, he said.

Plain clothes police personnel will also be deployed with sniffer dogs outside the sensitive places to avert criminal activities in the Capital, he added.

The spokesman for the police said private security guards, hired for security of mosques and imambargahs during Ramazan, had also been directed to ensure high vigilance on Jumatul Wida.

The DSPs and SHOs of all police stations have been instructed for patrolling in their respective jurisdictions during prayer hours, he said and added that general hold up might be observed in Capital during these hours.—APP
