OKARA, Nov 20: The opposition’s all parties conference will be held on Dec 9 at Karachi to finalize the programme of anti-government movement.

This was stated by MMA central deputy general secretary and Punjab Jamaat-i-Islami amir Liaquat Baloch on Thursday morning at the residence of district amir Dr Liaquat Ali Kausar.

Mr Baloch said at present there was no chance of collaboration between the ARD and the MMA. “This topic is not even included in the APC agenda,” he added.

He, However, did not rule out use of platform of both the alliances to organize rallies and public meetings in various cities.

Mr Baloch said no political party was the host of the proposed APC. “It is being called on the most important national agenda that is why every political party has been invited.”

Replying to a question, he said increase in the salaries and allowances of the parliamentarian was not a wrong step, but it was their non-productive performance which irked common man. However, he justified the raise saying there was no increase in parliamentarians’ perks since 1990.

The MMA leader rejected ban on the Islami Tehrik and said Sajid Naqvi was not involved in the murder of Maulana Azam Tariq. He termed the arrest as a government ploy to fail the APC.

He announced that the MMA would fight against his arrest in the court and through protest movements.

Mr Baloch said the new district government and police systems caused increase in corruption and they should be abandoned immediately.

Instead, the provincial governments should be given the right to revive the old local government and police systems.
