HYDERABAD, Nov 19: The speakers at a workshop have demanded that the National Finance Commission Award should be announced on the basis of revenue generation, poverty and backwardness instead of population.

The workshop on “Resource Distribution” was organized by the Sindh Rural Development Society, Sindh NGOs Federation and other area NGOs in Tando Jam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Aziz Chand, Professor Shamsuddin Shaikh, Ilyas Khokhar, Dr Riaz Ahmed, Ghulam Mustafa Leghari and others said that Sindh contributed 70 per cent of total revenue to the federation and paid two and half per cent more general sales tax than other provinces.

Despite this, they deplored, the province was in the grip of poverty, unemployment and the majority of its population was deprived of basic facilities.

They demanded that Sindh should not be discriminated against as it was also facing the influx of aliens.

SU: The dean, faculty of education, University of Sindh, announced on Wednesday that the first semester examinations of 2003-4 and second semester examinations of 2003 of BEd, MEd and MA, education, previous and final, of morning and evening programme would be conducted at the faculty of education, Elsa Kazi Campus, and old campus, from Dec 22.

The last date for submission of examination forms has been fixed as Dec 15.

Examination forms can be obtained by the candidates from the office of the dean of faculty of education on any working day during office hours.

The candidates have been advised to enclose enrolment card copy, eligibility certificate (in case the candidate passed the last examination from other board/university), three photographs, marks certificate of last examination, photostat copy of paid challan of admission fee with the examination form.

The detailed schedule of the examination will be soon announced and displayed at the notice board of the education faculty.

MERIT LIST: The director admissions, University of Sindh, on Wednesday announced the second merit list of selected candidates for masters classes in different disciplines for the academic session 2004.

The lists have been displayed at the notice boards of the Sindh University Model School, old campus, and the directorate of admissions, University of Sindh.
