Pak Gym beat SSGC to reach semifinal

KARACHI, Nov 18: Pak Gymkhana continuing on their winning spree, reached the semifinal of the 18th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket festival, ending the pretensions of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) by four wickets at the Karachi Gymkhana ground on Tuesday.

After getting off to a fine start when openers Ashraf Ali (66) and Nadeem Naim (22) put on 48 for the first wicket, the rest of the SSGC batsmen could not maintain the tempo and were bowled out for 149 in 24.2 overs.

Left-arm spinner Yahya Toor three for 31, Amir Hanif two for 13 and Saif Malik two for 21, were among the wickets that fell.

Chasing 150 runs for victory, Pak Gymkhana reached the target in 19.2 overs scoring 152 runs for the loss of six wickets.

M. Ghazzain top scored with 40. Amir Hanif (39), Afsar Nawaz (23) and M. Rizwan (22), also contributed to their team’s tally.

Wednesday’s fixture: Sindh Police v Bed & Bath CC (quarterfinal) 1.00 p.m.
