PESHAWAR: Two assistant directors of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) were made officers on special duty, while another one was repatriated to his parent department in a reshuffle on Thursday.

The reshuffle came after transfer of ACE director Ziaullah Toru on May 2. Mr Toru’s transfer generated a controversy and the provincial legislature has tasked a committee to look into reports of differences between the accountability body head and province chief secretary.

A statement issued here said that Riaz Mehsud, who has been given the additional charge of director ACE, has repatriated assistant director administration Shahab Nawaz to his parent department. Mr Nawaz was an employee of industries department.

It said that assistant director crime, Peshawar, Shah Hassan Khan and assistant director crime, Mardan, Javed Khan have been made officers on special duty and departmental records had also been taken back from their possession and handed over to the officials concerned.

It said that Mr Mehsud vowed to make the ACE a people-friendly body. However, sources in the ACE told Dawn that the transfers were apparently linked to Mr Toru removal.
