CHITRAL, Nov 18: District council members in a session held Nazim Shahzada Mohyuddin and the police responsible for the shortage of firewood, deteriorating law and order situation and other problems.
The speakers alleged that firewood was smuggled to Gilgit in a large quantity in connivance with the police.
They expressed their dissatisfaction over the law and order situation and said the number of dacoities, theft and kidnapping were on the rise. They termed the recent selection of police constables unfair.
The council constituted a committee to look into the payment of the liabilities of different union councils of Rs6.3 million as the finance and planning department could not satisfy the councillors over the matter.
