SWABI: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is yet to pay the ‘special compensatory allowance’ to the public sector employees working in BPS-16 and BPS-17 though the announcement in this regard was made in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2015-16.

Talking to this correspondent here on Tuesday, the employees recalled that the provincial finance minister had himself made the announcement in the budget and later it was notified that ‘special compensatory allowance’ would be given to the employees of BPS-16 and BPS-17.

In this regard, they referred to the notification issued by the provincial finance department (regulation wing) No. ED/SO/ (FR) 7-20/2015, which says that “special compensatory allowance equal to difference of national upgradation of BS-16 and BS-17 will be allowed to all the provincial government employees in BS in lieu of upgradation”.

“Pay fixation in upgradation will be applicable with effect from 01-07-2015 or 01-12-2015 on the option to be given by the employees,” according to the notification.

The employees said that two-step pay scale upgradation to the employees from BS-01 to BS-05 and one pay scale upgradation to all the provincial employees from BS-06 to BS-15 had been implemented, but only the section of ‘special compensatory allowance’ was put into cold storage.

An employee of the health department said that the new budget was approaching, but the compensatory allowance, which was part of the budget for the ongoing fiscal, was yet to be implemented.
