KARACHI: An employee of the Karachi Port Trust was killed allegedly by his relatives on issues arising out of his second marriage, Jackson police said.

Ali Gohar Shah, 55, was tortured and strangled allegedly by his three brothers-in-law — Husain Shah, Irshad Shah and Ihsan Shah — said Jackson SHO Rao Khalid.

He said the three suspects brought Ali Gohar Shah, 55, to the flat of his second wife near Jungle Shah at around 5am. They knocked at the door and when she opened it, the suspects told her that Ali had become unconscious and they needed to carry him in. They left him there and escaped. He was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi by his brother Bahadur Shah where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The SHO said the victim had recently married another woman and it appeared to be a bone of contention between him and his brothers-in-law, which led to his murder.

The police registered the murder case on a complaint of the victim’s brother against the suspects.
