HAJI Muhammad Wakil

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Minister for Forest Haji Muhammad Wakil, who died of a heart attack on Sunday, was laid to rest in his native area of Tangir Valley in Diamer on Monday.

He is survived by his four wives.

Mr Wakil had gone to Gorikot area in Astore to watch a polo match when he complained of chest pain. He was taken to the Eidgah District Headquarters hospital where he died.

GB Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman, ministers and members of the GB Legislative Assembly, government officials, politicians and clerics attended the funeral.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Barjees Tahir and Governor Mir Ghazanfar expressed condolences on Mr Wakil’s sudden death.

Mr Wakeel had won the GBLA election from Tangir Valley on the PML-N ticket.
