KARACHI, Nov 17: The Supreme Council of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal gave one-month ultimatum to the government on Monday night warning it that if it failed to present the agreed formula on the Legal Framework Order in the National Assembly, the MMA would launch a countrywide movement of ‘Musharraf hataau tehrik’ from Dec 18.

The decision was announced here at a press briefing after the council meeting held under the presidentship of Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani.

For this purpose, a nine-member steering committee under the leadership of Qazi Hussain Ahmad has been formed to chalk out the proposed movement’s details.

Explaining, the Qazi said the movement was not against the army, rather, it was meant to relieve it from additional duties.

The committee comprises Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Maulana Samiul Haq, Prof Sajid Mir, Allama Abdul Jalil Naqvi, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Pir Aijaz Hashmi, Bashir Abu Talib, Maulana Gul Nasir Khan and Liaquat Baloch.

Through a resolution, the supreme council also condemned the arrest of Allama Sajid Naqvi and ban on his party.
