LAHORE: KPK’s stand-in skipper and temperamental opener Ahmed Shahzad was involved in a needless controversy here when he broke the dressing room glass by hurling his bat in a fit on anger over his missed century in the Pakistan Cup on Sunday.

Ahmed, who was dismissed for 79 against Balochistan, has a poor disciplinary record and Sunday’s incident was ample proof of his inconsistent behaviour both on and off the field.

Ahmed, however, defended his position by saying that what happened in the dressing room was not an intentional act but a spur of the moment thing which was a reaction to his dismissal before completion of the three-figure mark.

A PCB official later said Ahmed has assured to bear all expense for replacement of the damaged glass.
