HYDERABAD, Nov 17: Sindh has been meted out step-motherly treatment in respect of the National Finance Commission Award although it provides more funds to the federation than the other provinces.
This was said by Sindh National Party chief Amir Bhambhro while speaking at the SNP central committee meeting at the National House in Qasimabad here on Monday.
He feared the rulers had once again decided to announce the NFC Award on the basis of population and demanded that it should be announced on the basis of income generation by each province.
He said a protest demonstration would be held at the Haider Chowk and a sit-in would be staged outside the Sindh Cane Commissioner’s office on Tuesday (today) to express solidarity with sugarcane growers.
JSQM: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chief Bashir Qureshi said on Sunday the rulers had no respect for the people of Sindh as they were going ahead with the projects of the Kalabagh dam and Thal canal despite an opposition from the province.
He was speaking to party activists at the media centre of the party in Qasimabad here.
He announced the JSQM would launch a movement against the disputed water projects after Eid.
He removed the joint secretary of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation, Nisar Lakher, from his post on the charges of extortion.
He warned that indiscipline in the party would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Sui Southern Gas Company employees, the JSQM chairman demanded that the company administration should reinstate 700 employees as directed by the Supreme Court.
He called upon the federal government to terminate the services of the company officials who had failed to implement the decision of the apex court.
