MITHI, Nov 17: The residents of Malahnore Veena village, Mithi taluka, have urged the provincial government to provide a road, water supply and electricity to the village.

Councillors Genaram and Dujomal and others told journalists that the village was the headquarters of the union council with a population of about 3,000.

They said that a basic health unit, a middle school for boys and a primary school for girls had been functioning in the village for many years and yet the village, situated at a distance of seven kilometres from Mithi, lacked electricity, water supply and a road.

The villagers said that though the minister for works and services, Arbab Ghulam Rahim and MPA Rajvir Singh had announced during their visit to the village that a road, water and electricity would be provided to the village but no practical steps had been taken so far.

The taluka Nazim, Abdul Ghai Khoso, Virawah union council Nazim, Bherji, and others told this correspondent that only five out of 12 teachers were attending the school which had about 250 students..

Four teachers of the school were allowed to work on redeployment basis at the schools of Mithi, Nagarparkar and Gori whereas one teacher had been sent on training which was badly affecting the education of the students, they maintained.

FIRE VICTIMS: The villagers of Ghampo, whose houses were recently gutted, have appealed to the government to provide them with financial assistance to enable them to reconstruct their houses.
