ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday published the asset details of senators. The asset details can be purchased from the ECP on payment of Rs345, said an ECP official.

Under the Representation of People Act, 1976, Section 42(A) and Senate Election Act 25 (A) it is mandatory for parliamentarians to declare assets held by them, their spouses and their dependents.

“Every member shall, on a form prescribed under Clause (f) of Sub-Section (2) of Section 12, submit a statement of assets and liabilities of his own, his spouse and dependents annually to the Commission by the thirtieth day of September each year” says the law.

The law says that the statements of assets and liabilities submitted with the ECP “shall be published in the official gazette and copies thereof may be obtained on payment of prescribed fee”.

The commission can suspend members who fail to submit the asset details by Oct 15.
