Policemen overworked, underpaid

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 16: Newly inducted ASIs and senior officials of the district police were invited to a seminar here at the DPO office in an effort to discuss and improve police’s public image.

Some 50 ASIs, who were asked to speak freely, said the behaviour of police officers (at police stations) with the public was not friendly, corruption was rampant.

Their seniors present there rebutted their charge and said that they had to work 24 hours against meagre salaries. “We are overworked and underpaid.”

They stressed that they could work like motorway police and establish same standards of working if they were paid equally in eight hours duty.

DPO Muhammad Nawaz Warriach urged the new recruits to serve the public honestly. He promised to do the needful to solve pressing problems enlisted by their senior.
