20 Pos arrested in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, Nov 16: The district police claimed to have arrested 20 proclaimed offenders besides busting three gangs of dacoits during the last 48 hours.

Speaking at a crime meeting here on Sunday, DPO Saud Aziz said the Cantonment police arrested the Shahbaz gang, the Sabzi Mandi police the Kashi gang and the Kamoki police the Hafiz Ataur Rehman gang from their hideouts at Gondlanwala.

The DPO revealed that the police also recovered nine rifles of 12 bore, six revolvers, a carbine, 141 cartridges, two stolen motorcycles, besides cash and jewellery from their possession.

He pointed out that the Wazirabad Circle police arrested around 144 POs and dozens of gangs of dacoits and robbers in October.

He warned that inefficient and corrupt SHOs would be taken to task if they failed to control the crime.

ELECTROCUTED: An electrician was electrocuted while repairing his washing machine in his house in Baghbanpura here on Sunday.

Mumtaz fell unconscious after receiving a severe shock. He was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where he died.
