LAHORE, Nov 15: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri has called for more Spanish investment in Pakistan.

He was talking to a four-member Spanish delegation, which was led by Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ramon Gil-Casares Satrugstegui.

He briefed the delegates on the steps taken by the Pakistan government to rejuvenate the economy and make it more investor-friendly.

Mr Kasuri felt that Spain, having a dynamic economy in Europe, should expand its trade with Pakistan.

The meeting also covered important international issues like Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East.

The two sides exchanged views on UN reforms and agreed that the organization should fulfil its role.

Mr Kasuri said that UN decisions should be implemented uniformly.

He said that Spain could promote a dialogue between the civilizations which was a pressing need in the prevailing situation.

The two sides exchanged views on measures to combat terrorism and the Spanish secretary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in this regard.

Pakistan and Spain also agreed on the need for greater cooperation at various international fora including the UN Security Council. Mr Kasuri hoped that Spanish Foreign Minister Ana Palacio would soon visit Pakistan. —APP
