ABBOTTABAD: The Comstas Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad chapter, held its 87th and 88th convocations here the other day, awarding degrees to 484 students.

Rector Syed Mohammad Junaid Zaidi, who was the chief guest, awarded the degrees to the students.

On the occasion, he asked the students to play a significant role in nation building.

Earlier, director campus, Engineer Gul Khan Jadoon, presented the annual report and said they had set the target to raise the strength of students to 8,000 from the current 5,600 students, who were getting education in 17 undergraduate and 24 graduate programmes. Mr Jadoon said work on the new campus had already started for which latest machinery for labs was about to arrive.

He said Comsats currently had 100 orphan students being provided free boarding and lodging facilities. He informed that 60 labs had been established by Comsats in different government schools. Mariam Mehmood with 3.95 CGPA received the campus gold medal, Anam Bashir with 3.77 CGPA got campus silver and institute bronze medal in BS. In earth sciences, Auzair Mehmood with 3.87 CGPA got campus gold medal. A total of 15 medals were distributed to distinction holders.
