HYDERABAD, Nov 13: The District Public Safety Commission chief Masood Pervez has stressed the need for determining the sphere of the authority of the DPSC to entertain public complaints against the police.

He was speaking at a meeting of the DPSC at his office here on Wednesday.

He further said that cooperation between the general public and police was necessary to restore the confidence of the people in the law enforcement agencies.

Speaking on the occasion, the regional police officer, Ghulam Mohammad Malkani, said that a training course would be organized for the members of the Public Safety Commission under the aegis of the NRB to enable the members to understand the legal complications as well as a better understanding of police order.

The members of the DPSC praised the DPO, Hyderabad, A. D. Khwaja, for his cooperation.

PPP: Sindh PPP leader Jam Saqi has announced to launch a movement from Nov 1 for the release of former senator, Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Wednesday, he said that the government had failed to prove any case against him during the last seven years.

He claimed that the government had no political, legal or moral reason to keep Mr Zardari in jail for even a single day.

He was of the opinion that Pakistan could not afford dictatorship, and added that if real democracy was not restored the country would suffer irreparable damage.

Demanding immediate release of Asif Ali Zardari, Jam Saqi announced to launch a movement for his release from Nov 16 by mounting a silent protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club.
