LARKANA, Nov 12: The primary teachers protest in Larkana city continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday when they boycotted classes to demand that senior teachers be posted as headmasters of schools.

The teachers remain divided over the issue as one group was taking regular classes. However, academic activities are being badly affected and students are suffering the most.

The teachers wore black armbands and hoisted black flags on school buildings.

They said that the protest would continue till the implementation on the orders of the district Nazim, Larkana, who had supported the plan of having senior teachers posted as headmasters.

Meanwhile, the primary school teachers developed differences over the issue of boycotting academic activities in the city schools.

One group, led by Ghulam Abbas Daidar, is leading the boycott to pressure the district government to implement the decision of inducting senior teachers as headmasters in line with the district Nazim’s directives.

The other group, led by Ali Gul Chandio, is opposed to the boycott as it believes that it affects educational activities as a result the students suffer.

When contacted, the chairman, education sub-committee, Larkana District Council, Amir Bakhsh Gaad, alleged that all the teachers’ boycott was aimed at getting hold of funds of the school management committees.

BAR POLLS: The elections of the High Court Bar Association, Larkana, which were scheduled to be held on Nov 20 were postponed as the election commissioner, Ghulam Sarwar Abbasi, resigned on Tuesday.
