KHAIRPUR, Nov 11: The Faiz Ganj police on Monday registered two separate cases of water theft against six people, including political activists and Nazims.

Faiz Ganj Taluka Naib Nazim Nazir Ahmed Hisbani and Akri union council Nazim were accused of making cuts in the Ali Nawaz Wah to steal water.

The others booked on charges of water theft included Daim Ali Hisbani, Sarfaraz Hisbani, Mohib Ali Hisbani and Faqir Bukhsh Hisbani, the district leader of the Sindh National Front.

The Faiz Ganj police arrested Qurban, Faiz Mohammad, Suleman and Darogho of the Faiz Ganj Wah wanted in the water theft case.

Meanwhile, District Nazim Nafisa Shah accused the irrigation officials of partiality, saying they were victimizing Nazims and councillors of the Awam Dost Panel and implicating them in false water theft cases.

Talking to newsmen at her office on Tuesday, Ms Shah said she had urged the Sindh governor to order inquiry into the “political role” of the irrigation officials in the district.—BoC
