NEW DELHI: Undeterred by scuttling of its previous attempt to get Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar banned by the United Nations, India will again move the world body with the demand, according to its external affairs ministry.
“We will be moving the 1267 Sanctions Committee to also include the name of Masood Azhar on the sanctions list. It is a great anomaly that the organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad is listed, but not its leader,” ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
He also noted that India had already submitted to the UN’s Sanction Committee a fresh list of what he called 11 terrorists from Pakistan-based groups affiliated to Al Qaeda, Taliban and other outfits responsible for terrorism in the country.
On February 18, a list of 11 individuals and one organisation “linked to terrorism in India”, was submitted to the 1267/1989/2253 ISIL (the militant Islamic State group) and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee.
The UN banned JeM in 2001 but India’s efforts to get restrictions imposed on Azhar after the Mumbai attacks did not bear fruit because China didn’t allow them to be imposed.

I actually suggest the Indians do that, do the same for Hafiz Saeed - or all the others they so vociferously claim are behind acts of terrorism in India. Certainly is better than their ranting and media hysteria which we have all come to find entertaining due to repetition.

This is waste of time and energy by India. Pakistan is a sovereign country, it follows its own local laws. No political pressure or UN bans on individual or an alleged terror group can change situations, its own courts can decide who is to be treated as criminals and any action sgainst them if proved guilty in a Pakistan's court.

UN resolutions don't carry any weight because resolutions from 1948 are still in cold storage and India is still on spree of killing, raping, and host of other brutalities in occupied kashmir.

Masood Azhar will find his name on the UN sanctions list sooner than later. The last time the motion was vetoed by China. India would have moved the fresh resolution after consulting with China on the matter.

A good move! In this way, UN will ask to provide the convincing evidence against Mansoor Azhar that India has not provided so far, to Pakistan. It would be easier for Pakistan to deal with the UN than the non-cooperative India.

@asif Such approach will affect India pak dialogue? Did India stop talks after recent Pathankot attack? Both countries are still trying to work together in legal ways.
I don't see any problem with legal fights.... I believe they are better then border shelling by both countries.

@Hyderabadi : Read the resolution again. UN resolution had called for the both parties to withdraw their armed forces and get the plebiscite conducted through the UN. But, that is an old story. The UN group of observers on the LOC are already there since 66 years and have failed to observe even the border crossings by the militants. That proves their worth. Or, the whole story of infiltration is a hoax because, both India and Pakistan are paying for the services of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), since ages.

The Security Council met on 12 December, and on 21 December adopted resolution 307 of 1971, by which it demanded that a durable ceasefire in all areas of conflict remain in effect until all armed forces had withdrawn to their respective territories and to positions which fully respected the ceasefire line in Jammu and Kashmir supervised by UNMOGIP (extracted from the UN website)

In July 1972, India and Pakistan signed an agreement defining a Line of Control in Kashmir. But, India deviated from the agreement and took the position that the mandate of UNMOGIP had lapsed, since it related specifically to the ceasefire line under the Karachi Agreement of 1949. Pakistan, however, did not accept this position. See who is signing but not respecting the agreements?

The UN document says: "The military authorities of Pakistan have continued to lodge complaints with UNMOGIP about ceasefire violations. The military authorities of India have lodged no complaints since January 1972 and have restricted the activities of the UN observers on the Indian side of the Line of Control. They have, however, continued to provide accommodation, transport and other facilities to UNMOGIP".
Why India continues to facilitate UNMOGIP but ignores the procedure to write complaints about any ceasefire violations by Pakistan? Is it not a simple case of connivance?

@M.Saeed Your are partially right Saeed bhai. But the resolution directives are to be executed in sequence. The first step calls for Pak to withdraw from Kashmir. India too should also withdraw, bu allowed to keep minimal forces on the official/legal border with Pak. Third step is plebiscite by neutral observers.
So, unless Pak first withdraws, calls for plebiscite are not valid.I request you to read the resolution, its available online for download. :)

@Saukat Ali..RSS can be banned if it is indulge in violence activities outside india or behind its planning. However RSS is not involved in any kind of violence activities in anywhere in World. If any one have any proof they may come out.More than you , there are several parties in India who are agints RSS but they also not in a condition to give any proof.
