LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Wednesday a passenger at the airport for carrying foreign currency worth over Rs200 million.

According to the FIA, Zeeshan Naseer, of Shahdara, was to board a Dubai-bound flight. He was carrying 1.45 million euros, 1.59 million UAE dirham , $10,000 and 2,500 pounds. He was handed over to the FIA’s corporate crime circle for legal action.

A source in the FIA told Dawn that the suspect had laundered a huge foreign currency to Dubai. “He belongs to a travel agency and the FIA today raided it and also seized Rs20 million from there,” he said.

The source said the suspect was traveling along with his sister-in-law and her two children. The FIA released the other three as they had no connection with the crime of the suspect.

The FIA is raiding the whereabouts of the owners of the travel agency to arrest them.
