Jirga settles tribal dispute

JACOBABAD, Nov 9: A Jirga was held in Karampur, Kandhkot taluka, on Sunday to settle a 22-year old dispute between the Bhangwar and Nindwani tribes.

The Jirga committee comprised Sardar Sher Mohammad Khan Bijarani, MNA Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, MPA Dr Sohrab Khan Sarki, Abdul Ghaffar Khan Jamali, Taluka Nazim Malguzar Khan, Mir Babul Khan Jakhrani and Umer Daraz Khan Bhangwar.

Hundreds of people belonging to various tribes were present when the Jirga announced its decision.

The Jirga decided the murder cases for both the tribes and imposed a fine of Rs1 million on Bhangwar tribesmen and Rs625,000 on Nindwani tribesmen.

MAN SHOT DEAD: Some unidentified men shot dead a man, Ghulam Shabbir Oghai, at Oghai Laro in the limits of the Durrani Mehar police station, near Ghauspur, on Sunday.

His body was taken to the Kandhkot hospital for an autopsy.

INJURED: The Bahoo Khoso police injured two tyre/motor service shop owners, Ghulam Sarwar and Mohammad Anwar, in Daur the other day as they refused free service of an official van. The policemen subjected them to torture on the SHO’s order.

Later, the residents of Misripur area, headed by the union council Nazim, took out a procession against the police and blocked the Thul- Bahoo Khoso road for two hours.

They demanded the police authorities should take an action against the policemen, otherwise a strike would be observed in Thul.
