HYDERABAD, Nov 9: Family members of Krishan Sharma, who is in the custody of intelligence agencies, observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Saturday.

They were protesting against the continued detention of Mr Sharma.

Talking to journalists, they said the Sindh High Court had directed that Mr Sharma, who is a writer and human rights activist, should be produced before the civil court and should also be allowed to meet his children and family members.

However, they regretted that the court order had been violated and Mr Sharma had neither been produced before the court nor were his family members allowed to meet him.

They appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafrullah Khan Jamali, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Sindh Corp Commander to intervene in the matter.

Those who observed the hunger strike included children of Mr Sharma, Rajesh, Rahul, Manjeet, Marvi and Meet, and Nandlal, Haiman, Dileep, G. A. Sharma, Kapil and noted writer Taj Joyo.
