KARACHI, Nov 8: Waseem Naeem hit a brilliant attacking hundred to power Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to a big score in their Patron’s Trophy tie against Pak PWD at Quaid-i-Azam Park Pakistan Steel Town on Saturday.
Waseem Naeem smashed a superb 135 as DHA mammoth total of 350 for nine in their 83 overs the first innings after asked to bat first by PWD.
He belted as many as 18 boundaries and three massive sixes during his two minutes under five hours stay at the crease.
Waseem and Mubashir Ahmed were associated in a 134 runs second wicket stand to lay a solid foundation for a big total. Mubashir hit six fours in his 43.
Waseem later in partnership with Wajid Ali added 79 runs for the third wicket. Wajid’s 46 contained four hits to the boundary.
Ahmer Saeed was their best bowler with three wickets for 78 runs in 17 overs.

CUSTOMS IN CONTROL
Two hundred run stands helped Pakistan Customs to make a respectable 300 all out in their first innings on the first-day of their match against Dewan Farooqi Motors Ltd (DFML) at UBL Sports Complex Ground.
DFML were nine without loss at draw of stumps in three-day match. Zeeshan Khan with eight and Ovais Athar with one were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.
Inserted to bat first, Customs were reduced to 37 for three wickets in a fiery opening spell by paceman Aamir Yousuf, who removed Kashif Siddique (10) Naseem Khan (0) and consistent Aamer Bashir for three.
However Customs made a great recovery from a disastrous start.
Kamran Hussain emerged as the top-scorer for Customs with 77 laced with seven fours and a six in 129 minutes batting. He added 113 runs for sixth wicket with Bilal Khilji (35).
Leg spinner Rizwan Fareed produced a fine bowling spell of five wickets for 61 runs in 20.4 overs for DFML.
Azhar Shafiq and Shahbaz Butt shared 135 runs fourth wicket in 130 minutes to help Custom post a good score. Azhar cracked a fine 64 with eight boundaries and a six in 191 minute stay at the crease. Shahbaz Butt hammered nine boundaries in his 67.

PIA IN COMMAND
Pool “A” leaders PIA enjoyed another good day when they bundled out Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) at National Stadium.
Airlines pace trio of Aizaz bin Ilyas, Najaf Shah and Fazle Akber dismissed for paltry 131 in 48th over after sent to bat first.
By close PIA raced to 146 for two wickets on the opening day of their three-day match after batting for 140 minutes. Bazid Khan finished the day with an enterprising 75 with 14 sizzling boundaries..
Opener Kamran Sajid was 33 not out, having added 106 runs for third undefeated third wicket stand. Ghulam Ali fell for 17 and Faisal Iqbal for six.
PIA without its three top players Imran Farhat, Yasir Hameed and Umar Gul, who were called to attend national training camp, PIA still took control of their match.
Right arm paceman Aizaz took four wicket for 24 runs in 12 overs, Najaf Shah snapped four wickets for 55 in 18.4 overs and Fazle Akber grabbed two wickets for 73 runs to shot out electricians cheaply.
Only four batsmen in KESC innings reached the double. Captain Arif Mahmood made a patient 27 in 118 minute batting with two boundaries. Saeed Khan hit four fours in his 25.
