Lawmakers discuss issues with PM

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: Pakistan Millat Party chief and MNA Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari, minorities lawmaker M. P. Bhandara, Federal Labour and Manpower Minister Abdul Sattar Laleka and State Minister for Defence Production Habibullah Warriach separately called on Premier Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali at the Prime Minister’s House here on Saturday.

Farooq Leghari, who is also a National Alliance leader, and Mr Jamali reviewed the political situation and decided to continue cooperation between their respective political parties for the better future of democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.

During their separate meetings, Mr Laleka and Mr Warriach apprised Mr Jamali of their respective ministries’ issues and problems related to their constituencies.

They also briefed the prime minister about the projects undertaken by their respective ministries and the uplift plans being carried out in their constituencies.

The prime minister said it was the duty of the elected representatives to keep a constant check on the progress of developmental projects in their constituencies to ensure quality and timely completion and commissioning of the projects.

Speaking to MNA Bhandara, the prime minister said minorities were an important part of society and playing an important role in the country’s development.

They are equal citizens of Pakistan and their role is equally important for the development and progress of the country, he said and added that the government is making efforts to bring the minorities in the main stream.

During the meeting Mr Bhandara discussed the issues related to the minorities and gave some suggestions regarding improving parliament’s working in the next parliamentary year.

The prime minister appreciated the proposals and said these would be discussed in the next parliamentary party meeting.—APP
