Three die amid fog pall on roads

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 28: Poor visibility on Friday left three people, including a woman, dead in road accidents in and around the city.

A bus (LEP-3855) was on its way to Hafizabad from Sheikhupura when it collided head-on with a truck (RIJ-9131) on the Gangiana Road, Padianwala village. Bushra died on the spot while 11 people sustained injuries, five of them serious. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

On the Faisalabad Road near telephone exchange, Bhakhi, collision between bus (JA-5348) and trailer (JA-3492) left Sardar Muhammad of Tibbi Hamboh village dead. Eight people, who received injuries, were taken to a hospital.

A cyclist was knocked down by a speedy bus near Murida Kalan village on the Sharaqpur Road.

Vendor Dilshad Ali was going to different villages to sell vegetables when he met with an accident.

Driver managed to escape.

Police are investigating.

INJURED: A woman was among the three people injured over different issues here on Friday.

Ashraf and Ghulam Abbas injured their sister Parveen with a weapon over suspicion of illicit relations in Sarkari Kalan village. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

In Jarrian village, Ashraf sustained bullet injuries when his rivals targeted him. He was admitted to a hospital.

Meanwhile, armed men took aim on their rival Zaman in Dumbal Chand village near Ferozewala. He was taken to a hospital in precarious condition.

The motive behind the incident was stated to be rivalry over a piece of land.

Investigation is underway.
