FAISALABAD, Nov 8: Civil Lines police SHO, ASI and a constable were arrested on Saturday on the charge of letting an inspector, who was arrested on Friday for his alleged involvement in the Sialkot jail incident, escape.

Besides, police sub-inspectors — Rana Omar Daraz and Rana Nasrullah — were suspended from service and order for their arrest was issued for facilitating accused Rana Zulfiqar’s release by hoodwinking the three policemen.

An Elite Force team arrested the accused, who was under the influence, on Friday near the circuit house and handed him over to the Civil Lines police for registration of a case and medical examination.

Civil Lines police SHO Inayat Niazi, ASI M Sarwar and constable Ghulam Husain brought Zulfiqar to the District Headquarters Hospital for examination from where he called in two SIs through his mobile phone.

The SIs rushed to the scene and facilitated his release after which the DIG ordered arrest of the officials involved in the crime. The court declared Zulfiqar proclaimed offender.
