Students demand removal of VC

Published November 9, 2003

GILGIT, Nov 8: The Imamia Students Organization (ISO) has demanded of the president of Pakistan (who is also the chancellor of Karakuram International University) to remove KIU vice-chancellor and the registrar.

The organization accused the two of misguiding the police who resorted to lathi-charge and tear-gas shelling on the protesting students recently.

The ISO also alleged that the KIU officials were using third-grade tactics to usurp the assets of Postgraduate College, Gilgit, in collusion with the local administration.

They threatened to launch a protest campaign if action was not taken against them.

Gilgit-Baltistan Muttahida Talba Mahaz chairman Saeedul Hasnain also supported the ISO stand regarding the KIU affairs and condemned lathi-charge and tear-gassing of innocent students.
