NHA approves purchase of land for CPEC’s western route

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has approved a Rs13 billion PC-1, envisaging acquisition of land for the western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The approval was granted in a meeting of the NHA executive board headed by the authority’s chairman here on Wednesday.

“Work on the 288 kilometre section of the western corridor from Burhan to Dera Ismail Khan will start soon. The project has been divided into five sections so that work can be completed in the given timeframe,” an official told the meeting.

It was informed that work on certain projects of the CPEC had already been completed and construction of several other sections was in progress. A portion, measuring 335km on Karakoram Highway from Khunjerab to Rai Kot, has been completed whereas the Hazara Motorway (Burhan-Havelian) will be completed by early next year. Work on the 120km Thakot-Havelian section will also start in the near future.

You will need to pay the KKH expansion first to the people in GB before doing any western, eastern or diagonal route as that area is the source of that supposed route. They are reeling for years now because of the absence of any political backing.

People who know this route can see that From Khunjrab(china border) to Burhan Motorway interchange (current M-1) you will be having an excellent road within next year which would be serving as backbone link to CPEC route till Gawadar. Its really amazing..... Good news for whole Hazara region as well.

Wastage of resource. Who would prefer to travel through such a difficult terrain with no security, water, rocky and steep ascending and descending, no population, no skilled manpower. Our Politicians just to counter Punjab are bent upon wasting national resources

@Pushtoon : Build the road(s). People will come. Private investment will be made and facilities will be set up. Small industries will emerge and will get linked. The larger ones will get added or may relocate due to cheaper price of land and easy access through transport and people will benefit. The question is how soon this going to happen.
