KARACHI, Nov 7: A large number of visitors, including the governor and many industrialists, took interest in the stall set up by Gulbahao, a non-governmental organization, at SITE stadium.
According to a press release of Gulbahao issued here on Friday, the stall was exhibiting its pre-fabricated rooms and other innovations like Paaki Paani, mobile toilet, and swimming pool of plastic bags.
The stall was visited by a large number of people, including former chairman of the SITE Association of Industry, Dr Arshad Vohra, and industrialists of the SITE area.
The pre-fabricated room, according to Gulbahao, is the first of its kind in Karachi. Its basic qualities are durability, water proof and resistance to termites. The room can easily be put up in a few hours and dismantled just as quickly. The room consists of 300 ‘wastic’ blocks (a term used for compressed waste, but clean shopping bags). Each block weighs about five to ten kilograms for the walls and roof respectively.
The organization claims that the room, complete with two small in-built cupboards and sleeping mattresses, costs from Rs10,000 to Rs12,000 only that attracted a large number of visitors.—APP
