KASUR, Nov 6: Around 15 people shot dead four family members, including two women, over a land dispute late Wednesday night at Alpa Kalan village, Sarai Mughal.

The indiscriminate fire also injured seriously a woman passerby and her son.

Police said that Hakim Ali and his brother Muhammad Shafi had been at daggers drawn for quite sometime. On Wednesday, Hakim and his sons were working in the fields of Shafi when he came there and asked them to leave the place. Their refusal led to an exchange of heated arguments which came to an end when Shafi had to leave the place.

After taraveeh prayers, Hakim, Akram, Salamat, Shabbir, Dilawar and their 10 accomplices went to Shafi’s house and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates. As a result, Shafi’s sons Zakir Hussain, Tufail, wife Raj Bibi and daughter Irshad Bibi died instantly while passerby Maryam Bibi and her son Tanvir (6) sustained seriously injuries. They were shifted to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, in critical condition. The bodies were sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Sarai Mughal police have registered a case against 15 accused on the report of Shafi.

LOOTED: Five armed men looted cash and ornaments from a house on Thursday at Mehmoodpura village, Khuddian.

Police said armed bandits busted into Ashraf’s house, held the inmates hostage, gathered Rs35,000 in cash and 12 tolas of gold and fled with the booty.

Khuddian police have registered a case.

CAUGHT: A local Anti-Corruption Establishment inspector on Thursday caught red-handed a patwari while taking bribe from a person on the premises of Pattoki courts.

Sardar Liaquat of Phoolnagar demanded Rs50,000 bribe from Khalid Mehmood for transferring his land. Khalid reported the matter to the ACE director general, Lahore, who directed inspector Ibrar Khalil to take action against the patwari.

Pattoki police have instituted a case against the patwari.

16 injured: Sixteen people were injured in a road accident on Main Ferozepur Road near Mustafabad on Thursday.

A wagon was coming from Lahore when its tie-rod failed and it overturned. As a result 16 passengers sustained injuries.

The injured Ramzan, Ashraf, Saeed, Akram, Razzaq, Mansha, Taufeeq, Imran, Majeed, Rasheed, Asia Bibi, Farida Bibi, Suleman (8), Fakhar (6), Khurshid Bibi and Najma were taken to the Mustafabad RHC and the Kasur DHQ Hospital from where three of them were shifted to the General Hospital, Lahore.
