Plea to repair Moenjodaro structures

Published November 7, 2003

LARKANA, Nov 6: The Sindhi Adabi Sangat has expressed concern over the damages to relics of Moenjodaro caused by recent rains and demanded that the government should take immediate measures to preserve the site.

In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, Larkana SAS secretary Baqaullah Bozdar demanded that the damaged structures should be immediately repaired.

He said a group of writers and intellectuals recently visited the site and noticed that the rains had devastated the relics but the authorities had initiated no measures to repair the damaged portions.

Mr Bozdar demanded that tube-wells should be recommissioned for the site as their closure since 1997 had increased waterlogging and salinity in Moenjodaro.
