Jammu martyrs day today

Published November 6, 2003

MIRPUR (Azad Kashmir), Nov 5: The 56th Jammu Martyrs day will be observed in Jammu and Kashmir, across the Line of of Control in occupied Kashmir, in Pakistan and the rest of the world on Nov 6 to mark the martyrdom of over 250,000 people of Jammu in 1947.

The day would be observed by all Kashmiris with a renewal of their pledge to continue their struggle for freedom from Indian clutches.

The day is observed every year by Kashmiris to remember those Muslim men, women and children who were slaughtered by armed extremist Hindus and Dogra military forces while they were on way to Pakistan during the partition.

In Azad Kashmir, special ceremonies, including seminars and symposiums, will be held at all seven district headquarters to pay tribute to the martyrs.—APP
