KARACHI, Nov 5: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, is planning upgrade and capacity enhancement.

This was stated by IBA’s acting president Mohammadmian Soomro, while talking to reporters after addressing the students and faculty of IBA at its city campus on Wednesday afternoon.

On the occasion of the visit, he was briefed by the director of IBA on the functioning of the institution as well as its future plans.

Mr Soomro said IBA was also planning to induct more students from the rural areas which would help bridge the rural-urban disparity. He added that IBA Karachi was also planning to expand its hostel facilities.

Mr Soomro said he was very happy over the plans made by IBA and he wished the institution and its management well.

“My vision of IBA is that of a centre of excellence recognized internationally. It is very important to have a faculty of high standard which is also very dedicated,” he said.

The acting president also mentioned the steps being taken for human resource development in the country and promotion of information technology.

He called for creating awareness to effectively tackle the issues such as ‘Karo Kari’ and the honour killings. He was of the view that these issues are deep-rooted and sufficient support should be mobilized in order to rid society of them.

Calling for fostering tolerance and harmony, he reminded the elected representatives of their responsibilities towards their electorates by fully representing them in the assemblies. He also urged voters to exercise their right of franchise in a judicious manner as part of their national obligations.—APP
